With hearts full of gratitude, we bid a fond farewell to our beloved Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Mathews Francis OCD for his meritorious service to the people of this Vicariate. On this occasion, His Excellency Bishop Camillo Ballin MCCJ together with the Apostolic Nuncio His Excellency Archbishop Francisco Padilla and Fr. Mathews offered a Thanksgiving Mass on January 27, 2018 at 6.30 pm at the Holy Family Cathedral. The Provincial Minister of Malabar Province, Fr. Sebastian OCD., Fr. Paul Koenig, the Custos of the Capuchins in Arabia and the clergy from Kuwait were present for the celebration. The Holy Family Cathedral Church was packed with a remarkable number of faithful from the four parishes of Kuwait.
The Thanksgiving Mass was followed by a farewell program in the Holy Family Hall. Bishop Camillo expressed his gratitude to Fr. Mathews for his selfless and committed service to the Vicariate as Vicar-General. During the celebration, Fr. Mathews said that he goes from here with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction and conveyed his appreciation and gratitude to His Excellency Bishop Camillo and to the clergy and the faithful of Kuwait.
Fr. Mathews served the Vicariate from July 7, 2001 and left on May 1, 2006. He rejoined the Vicariate on August 2, 2008 and served as Vicar–General. We wish him God's choicest blessings and the very best in his new assignment in India.
