The God's Love Community celebrated its 18th Anniversary on Thursday 27th April
2000, at 5.45 p.m. The evening began with a welcome and a brief introduction
of the evening's programme, which was followed by praise and worship.
Rev. Fr. Gabriel Dias, the Spiritual Director of the prayer group then
celebrated the Eucharist. In his homily he praised the G.L.C. for its
vibrancy and urged its members to continue the work to build the
community and extend service to others. The outstanding message of
the homily was "Do not ask what the G.L.C. has done for you but ask what you
have done for the G.L.C."
INTRODUCING THE G.L.C. LOGO :
The core group of the G.L.C. designed a logo for the prayer group, since it did
not have one, and introduced the logo on the day of the Anniversary celebration,
amidst thrill and applause. This was done soon after the Mass. The Logo was greatly
appreciated by the members.
EXPLANATION OF THE LOGO :
The logo depicts the spirit of the prayer group, that of a community united
as One Family in the love of Christ Jesus and moved by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Heart (Heart of Jesus) represents the love of Jesus.
The Image of the family holding hands represents the community united as One Family.
The Dove represents the Holy Spirit.
The Rays represent the Heavenly Father as well as the power of the Holy Spirit.
The strong and warm colours of the logo signify
the warmth, love, and the strong presence of the community wherever it may be.
THE SLOGAN - "LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I LOVE YOU" :
The greatest command of Jesus as in the Gospel, John 15:12, was adopted as the
community's slogan by the G.L.C.
CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION :
Certificates of appreciation were then awarded to Core group members and
leaders and deputies of the various service ministries, for their selfless
services rendered to the prayer group during the term 1998-99.
18TH ANNIVERSARY SOUVENIRS :
Key chains with the logo of the G.L.C. on one side and the slogan (John 15:12)
on the other side were distributed to the members as the anniversary souvenirs.
FELLOWSHIP :
A Bible based game was then conducted for all, which everyone enjoyed.
Light snacks and soft drinks were later served to the members. After a while
of fellowship the evening wound up with a prayer.
