DO YOU KNOW ...
The Vicariate of Kuwait is now the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia which includes Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The decree from the Holy See came into effect on May 31, 2011.
Our Lady of Arabia Cathedral, Awali, Kingdom of Bahrain
Our Lady of Arabia Cathedral is located in Awali in the Kingdom of Bahrain. On February 11, 2013, the King of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa granted the Catholic community 9,000 square metres of land in Awali, to build a new church. The Rite of Blessing of the foundation stone of the new Cathedral was held on May 31, 2014. The Cathedral was inaugurated on December 9, 2021 and consecrated on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Holy Family Co-Cathedral, Kuwait City, State of Kuwait
The Holy Family Co-Cathedral is located in Kuwait City in the State of Kuwait. It began to take shape in 1956 on land graciously allocated by H.H. The Amir, and the Government of Kuwait. The first stone was laid on January 27, 1957 and on March 16, 1961, the Cathedral was solemnly consecrated. Mindful of the peculiar circumstances in which the Catholics of Kuwait lived, namely, as transient residents, Bishop Stella, the first Apostolic Vicar of Kuwait dedicated the Cathedral to 'The Holy Family in the Desert'.
