With hearts filled with deep sorrow and grief, I express my strongest condemnation of the cowardly terrorist attack targeting St. George Greek Orthodox Church in the town of Hamoud, Karak Governorate, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during a funeral service. This tragic act claimed the lives of innocent victims and left several others injured.
I emphasize that this heinous criminal act constitutes a grave violation of the sanctity of human life and the sacredness of places of worship. It stands in direct contradiction to all religious, moral, and humanitarian values. He firmly affirms that terrorism has neither religion nor homeland, and that attempts to spread division, hatred, and sectarian strife will never undermine the unity, solidarity, and deeply rooted brotherhood between Muslims and Christians in Jordan.
On our behalf the priests, religious men and women, and faithful of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia, we extend the heartfelt condolences and sincere solidarity to the Greek Orthodox Church in Jordan, to the families of the victims, and to the entire brotherly Jordanian people.
We also offer our prayers for the eternal rest of the victims, comfort and strength for their grieving families, and a swift and complete recovery for the injured.
We implore Almighty God to protect the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, its wise Hashemite leadership, and its beloved people from all evil, violence, and division, and to continue blessing the nation with security, peace, harmony, and national unity.
