Fr. John Thundiyath was born on April 30, 1960 to Mrs. Mariamma Daniel and Mr. Mathai Daniel at Kizhakkapuram in Kerala.
Fr. Thundiyat completed his high school studies in St. George High School, Attachakkal and his college studies in St. Mary’s College, Trivandrum.
He joined the Minor Seminary of St. Aloysius Seminary, Trivandrum on June 21, 1975 and did his +2/Pre Degree at St. Mary’s, Pattom. He did his Theology at the St. Joseph Seminary, Aluva and his Regency at KCSL, Palayam with further studies at St. Joseph Pontifical Seminary, Aluva. He has also obtained his Licentiate in Social Communications from the University of the Holy Cross, Rome.
His appointments and period of service until 1986 was at Kanchiyode, Vettikuzhy, Sivalookam, Ganapthykal. In 1990, he served at Seethathode, Vayyattupuzha, Gurunathanmannu, Chittar, Maniyar, Pampini. In 1994 he was posted to Malayikiz, Poovachal, Ponneduthukuzhy. In 1996, he served in Pothencode, Manjumala, Vengoodu, Vellanikal, Arasammodu, Koliyakodu. After this service he was sent to Chicago, USA until the year 2002. He then returned to Adoor, Parakkode and served there until 2005, in Chentihipoor until 2006, and in Philadelphia, USA until 2010. He returned to India and served in Pathanamthitta Cathedral until 2011 and in Mylapra from 2013 until 2018.
Fr. Thundiyat’s service also included Kandiyodu, St. Aloysisu Estate in 1986, MYCM Diocesan Assistant Director in 1994, MYCM Archdiocesan Director in 1996. He then went to Rome for higher studies in 2000, and on his return to India he was the Manager, Nazareth Home School, Balaramapuram in 2003 as well as the District Vicar, Neyyattinkara. In 2005, he was the Manager of All Saints Public School, Adoor as well as the District Vicar, Adoor. He served as the Bursar for Mar Baselios Engineering College, Trivandrum in the year 2007. He was then the Priests Assistant Fund President from 2005 to 2010 and the MCA National Director from 2011 until 2018. From 2011 to 2013 he was the District Vicar for Pathnamthitta and the District Vicar for R-Perunad from 2013 to 2017. He was then the Vicar General for the Catholic Diocese of Pathanamthitta from 2017 until his transfer to Kuwait in August 2019.
Fr. John Thundiyath joined the Daniel Comboni Parish of the Vicariate of Kuwait on August 30, 2019.

The Vicariate of Kuwait is now the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia which includes Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The decree from the Holy See came into effect on May 31, 2011.
